I Would Describe Myself As
Do you ever start to write these About Me's and your brain just seems to hit a wall? Metaphorically speaking, of course, because the resulting hemorrhage would make cognitive thought difficult at best and writing these bios that much more difficult. It's the inevitable mental gymnastics; how do I sum up a life in this tiny, impersonal box?
I think I need an agent to handle my online profiles, maybe the copy-writer who comes up with the short bio of an author you see on the back flap of a book that is always perfectly concise yet leaves you wanting more. But, alas, budgetary constraints and my lack of celebrity status seems to limit my options, so I'll have to do my best to muddle through. Besides, I haven't written a book... unless you count what follows...
I'm your typical wanderlust; I've always preferred to know a little about a lot rather than a lot about a little. I like to explore new things; sports and hobbies, my faith, my capabilities, myself. Music, movies, sports, hobbies, projects; I love to learn and explore new things.
Things I've got my stoke on for these days include snowboarding, surfing, parkour, mixed martial arts (especially the various muay thai kickboxing forms and krav maga... anything simple and brutally effective... whose art does not overcome its function). Not to worry, my interests do not lie in the venue of a caged octagon permeated with the pungent aroma of sweat, cigars and copious amounts of alcohol. And yes... I said "stoke". I like to tinker with things; if it's broke I can probably fix it. I like to build things; my latest project, though not entirely technical is building custom oriental style tissue pane room dividers for my home office.
I also dig on philosophy, forensics, criminology, theology, photography and coffee. I heart coffee. I don't drink alcohol but the archetypal rich dudes that always have those wet bars built into a wall... I want the same thing but I want a coffee bar.
On the daily, I work as a software contractor. I tend to like, and find that I have a knack for startups and small businesses that are in desperate need for the missing pieces; the processes, the product vision, the design of new features, and the management of sheer chaos that always comes with implementations of new product lines. Plus I get to wear jeans and a t-shirt to work... when I'm not working from the comfort of my couch. Don't get me wrong, I can rock a black suit and tie with the best of em, but I really prefer to just be comfortable... except on the rare occassion that I wear a pair of black spikey heels, because, let's face it, no one wears those for comfort.
Ya know, for a guy who was complaining about not knowing what to say, I kinda rambled on, didn't I? I do that... let's just pretend you laughed and told me to shutup in a playful way, shall we?
